Why We Build Drinks the Way We Do. .
At Bar 1924, we believe cocktails aren’t designed to chase trends or overwhelm the glass. Our philosophy is simple: build drinks people want to have again—balanced, intentional, and grounded in classic technique.
We take our cues from early American and Prohibition-era cocktails, when structure mattered and restraint was a virtue. Spirit-forward classics like the Old Fashioned, Manhattan, and Martini form the backbone of our menu. These drinks don’t rely on the latest science or excess—they rely on proper ratios, quality ingredients, and careful execution.
Using that foundation allows us to explore without losing focus.
Rather than full tiki or experimental extremes, we lean into thoughtful experimentation. You’ll see tropical or culinary influences used intentionally — pineapple for warmth,
herbs for lift, spice for depth—never to mask the spirit, and never just for novelty. Rum appears with purpose, not glamour. Citrus is used to balance, not to cover. Sweetness is measured, not loud.
Every cocktail at Bar 1924 fits into one of a few clear systems: classic, modern classic, culinary-driven, or low-proof. This keeps the menu approachable, the service efficient, and the experience consistent night after night. It also means our bartenders can focus on precision and hospitality rather than performance.
Just as important is what we don’t do.
We avoid overcomplicated builds, excessive prep that slows service, and drinks that only work once. Our business model values consistency, conversation, and pace. Cocktails should support the room—not dominate it.
Bar 1924 is meant to be enjoyed, not rushed. The drinks reflect that. They’re confident, unforced, and built to be enjoyed at the speed of the evening—not rushed, not extravagant, and never disposable.
